How to Do a Social Media Audit

"If you cannot measure, you cannot improve."

A social media audit is like a check-up for your social media accounts. It helps you see how well your social media is working for your business or brand. You can figure out what's going well and what needs improvement. It's like looking at the stats for a sports team to see where they need to improve to win more games!

Gather the basics for all channels

To get started, we have Facebook's information and metrics from the Insights in Professional Dashboard, including:

  • Audience: you need to reach at least 100 followers to see the detailed info.
  • Content: select the date range.
    • Overall engagement metrics: post reach and engagement.

    • You can click on each post to see more engagement data: impressions, reactions, comments, shares.

Now, let's Instagram's information and metrics from the Account Insights in Professional Dashboard, including:

  • Follower: select the date range you want to view.
    • Number of followers and growth rate.

  • Followers' demographics: locations, age, gender, most active times.

  • Content: select a date range and type of content.
    • Overall engagement data: accounts reached, shares.

    • Within each post/reel, you can also click "View insights" to see more engagement data: plays, likes, comments, shares, saves, reach, watch time, average watch time, and others.
