Dr. Jamuna D. Raju, MD, a psychiatrist with expertise for over 20+ years in treating anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, addiction, and other conditions.


Dr. Raju received her medical degree from Siddhartha Medical College and completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Maryland.

Assist with triage, clinic operations, and patient follow-ups, gaining hands-on experience in essential medical office tasks.


Learn to navigate the Electronic Health Record (EHR), provide referrals, handle pre-authorizations, and discuss patient cases with Dr. Raju for patient care coordination and documentation.


Gain knowledge about medications, participate in medication organization, and observe injections, expanding understanding of pharmacology and treatment procedures.


Support with lab tests and urine and drug screening processes, and communicate test results.


Develop interpersonal skills by connecting with patients in a non-judgmental and helpful manner, fostering positive patient-provider relationships.

Will I receive a Letter of Recommendation?

As long as you do well in your internship, your supervisor(s) are more than happy to provide recommendation letters. We provide ongoing mentorship to ensure your success.

How Do I Participate in this Program?

All students who want to be considered for any of Gateway's internships need to be a student in the Gateway Internship Program. Submit your application to the Gateway Internship Program, then schedule a 15-min interview with our team member to be considered. Once you get accepted as a Gateway x Dr. Raju’s Medical Assistant Internship, you will participate in our training to get started on the internship.

Are there any prerequisites?

No. You are not required to have previous knowledge or experience in this field.

Am I guaranteed an internship placement?

No. Every student adheres to our application process, which includes the application form, student's resume, and interview.

How long is the Program?

The internship lasts 1-2 months with the option to extend. The pre-internship training takes about a full day of work to complete asynchronously.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM TUITION?

This internship has a tuition of $3,200, with partial scholarships available. The program is designed to make the internship as valuable as possible for students, which includes:

  • Pre-internship training for the industry, role, and company-specific knowledge and skills.
  • Ongoing 1:1 support & mentorship to answer questions and give guidance within a day.
  • Offboarding guidance, which includes resume updates and thank you notes.
