Patient Care & Quality

Patient care and quality are AEHS’ most important values. The well-being and satisfaction of patients are at the core of the practice:

  1. Know, seek to understand, and interact with patients.
  2. Be meticulous.
  3. Don't judge.

Frustrated man

When a patient behaves differently than what you expect...

Scenario: During his doctor's visit, a man sat quietly in the chair but suddenly stood up, started humming loudly and making a scene.

What would you do?

A) Become irritated or frustrated by the man's humming and judge him for not controlling his behavior.

B) Feel uncomfortable and unsure of how to interact with the man, and might try to avoid him during the visit.

C) Practice empathy and understanding, that the man is probably humming to soothe himself and might recognize this as a coping mechanism. Inform the clinic staff of the situation and ask the staff if there's anything you can do to help.
