There are 3 follow-ups you should generally send the recruiter/interviewer
1. First follow-up: follow up within the timeframe they gave you to ask about the next steps. If they didn’t give a timeframe, then follow up within 5 business days.

It has been a [time] since we had the chance to chat about the [role] at [Company], and [something personal to your conversation]. I’m still very interested in the role and wanted to check in to see when I should expect to hear about the next steps.
Based on our conversation, I thought you may be interested in [piece of news you heard, link to article you read, conference/event to attend related to them].

2. Second follow-up: follow up in the timeframe they gave you to ask about the next steps. If they didn’t give a timeframe, then follow up within 5 business days since your first follow-up.

Hope you’re having a good week. I would like to check in to see if there are any updates about next steps for the [Title] role.

If you don’t hear back after the follow-ups, you can assume that you didn’t get the opportunity. That’s totally okay 🙂!
