Questions To Ask

“Do you have any questions for me?” should never be met with “No.”

But unfortunately, I’ve had students respond with this forbidden one-word “no” too many times.

Spoiler alert: most of them don’t land the opportunity.

In another interview, a college student asked me if he should get a buzzcut because he was thinking of changing up his hairstyle.

Unfortunately, it was the wrong question to ask in the interview setting and he didn't get moved onto the final interview.

🙋 You need to ask thoughtful questions to showcase your critical thinking skills and better connect with the interviewer!

Remember, your job is to get them to like you from the interview.

Questions you can ask:

  • How would you describe the company/team culture?
  • What’s the biggest opportunity or challenge for the company right now?
  • What qualities do you think are most important to excel in this role?
  • What do you think are the most challenging parts of this role?
  • Are there any concerns you have about me, my resume, or my experience?
  • What do you like most about this company?
  • Looking back at your career trajectory, what is the biggest advice that you have for me?
  • If given this position, what insights do you have to me being able to help the company grow while growing myself?

*Research the interviewer and company to think of others!
