Current Trends in the Food Industry
Rise in new businesses
There is an increasing number of "food tech" companies that use cutting-edge technology to improve food safety, reduce waste, and streamline the supply chain. People are discovering their passions and turning them into a business.
Additionally, there has been a rise in ghost kitchens and cloud kitchens ($112.53 billion market by 2027), where chefs can operate without the overhead costs of a physical location. They are professional kitchen spaces designed specifically for the preparation of food for delivery or takeout, reducing the barrier to entry for many and fulfilling online orders through third-party delivery services like Grubhub, Uber Eats, or DoorDash.
Economic uncertainty/downturn
Many people are resigning from their corporate jobs to take control of their lives, find more work/life balance, and have a fulfilling career they enjoy.
According to a McKinsey study, 21% of employees have quit their jobs over the past 2 years and 40% said that they are considering quitting their jobs. A survey found around 40% of employees are thinking about leaving their jobs in the next three to six months, a figure unchanged from 2021.
